this is the blog of www.miamilan.com

You remember my post on Oasisblues about the Zani article written by Paul Gallagher, brother of Oasis, about Ayrton Senna's new movie, the legendary driver of English cars only, Toleman, Lotus, McLaren, Williams.
I watched it recently and I was crying from the first to last minute :(
There are a lot of dialogue scenes you might have never seen. And also during the races scenes you feel as to be there.
Of course there's a lot about the rivalry with the Prost I was writing about recently in my F1 interview. Something with his girlfriend Adriane Galisteu (she was also on Playboy ^_^).
He was a fan of Italy and was always here, he could speak Italian perfectly. As the song Ayrton by Lucio Dalla says, he "decided to go away in a land of dreamers"...
The other week @ Monza weekend, Lewis Hamilton had "Senna" written behind, but he didn't really drive as Ayrton...
When Senna died in Italy and was going to heaven, the helicopter had ironically the colours of McLaren.

www.mclarenitaly.blogspot.com

You can find his classic t-shirt here in my little shop of simple clothes, it's the most selling one (and I had 300,000 visits there), the logo is original and in the official shops it costs much more. Available in other colours too (you can also change them), as the one in Brazil colours.
The film, special edition (2 dvd) $ 25 = £ 16

‎"I blame it on the changing of the seasons, the thoughts that I convey"... (Oasis, Roll it over). It still feels like summer but we're going towards autumn, sadness, "death (of you and me"). On 28 November while the people are @ Noel Gallagher, we'll be @ Smashing Pumpkins (mega pogo), Mediolanum Forum, though the last albums were rubbish. But "I like you, the old one..."
They'll also play on 29 in Padova.
End of October: Celtic "New Year's Eve" fairground, Capodanno celtico, @ Castello Sforzesco (Sforza castle), with music, dancing, etc.
(free event). The city of Milan was founded by Celtic people (not Roman people as some say thinking about "Mediolanum"). The ones who like Ireland will find interesting this event. And I couldn't forget something about Oasis :), as the Gallaghers have Irish origins.
31 October: Halloween, as usual I'll cook a superb Milan risotto sweet pumpkin rice :). This summer we were preparing pumpkins in the country house, as an ant preparing for the winter :)
(free event) and of course there'll be a party @ Hollywood club.
I had made some Pumpkins covers by guitar and piano on YouTube, I will upload them again.
model: Alena www.alenafashion.blogspot.com

in Milan, piazza Duomo cathedral square, Bee Gees cover, Beady Eye love them

"it's you that I adore, you'll always be my whore"

as every year, this post is dedicated to the memory of Valentina Giovagnini, a (not so famous) Italian singer who loved Celtic stuff, she died in a car accident. Song: "Caressing barefoot the grass on Donegal hills"

her best song

"...and the embers never fade, in my city by the lake, the place where I was born".
Smashing Pumpkins' Chicago and Milan are two "sister cities"

this girl is sick :) and she rocks

‎"so I pull my collar up and face the cold - on my own" ...so many memories

"...you and I should meet"

Let me know if you want to meet Noel Gallagher, he's in Milan this weekend and on Monday.
Video featuring some memorabilia of mine, Del Piero, Sergio Pizzorno and the cup won by the Mancini boys. But I forgot the picks he gave me and some Oasis groupies in the '90s.
And today's Liam's birthday... paparazzi ready on Como lake :) @ Gatto nero restaurant as every birthday.

Italian scooters... by the way, ‎from (8-9 for journalists) 10 to 13 November, the 69th (nice number :) EICMA motorbikes exhibition (or : women exhibition :) you remember), as in the past years. My sister organizes this event again and she needs girls to work, but they must be very thin (38-40 Italian size dress).
Already an event for November, so the girls (usually there are many foreign girls) can prepare to work there. And people can plan travels (I know English people who even came to Milan just for single car events).
I don't care about motorbikes at all, I don't really give a shit, but this is a girls exhibition, isn't it? :)
Of course there are all kinds of motorbikes, but we mods (we are mods we are mods we are we are we are mods) are especially interested in Milano Lambretta (name from the river Lambro) and Vespa, that is also in Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green shops.
It's in the same place where Oasis had to perform their last concert ever (fiera Milano-Rho, Expo 2015), Oasis gig now possibly in 2015 as it had to be.
Girls enter for free on Friday 11. My sister is one of the girls working there so I enter for free, so I'm a girl too, lol.

Noel, what's your favourite restaurant where you live in London?
Locanda Locatelli. There are Italian people in the kitchen, and there's the chance you might see Madonna.

Where did you last go on holiday?
The last great holiday I went on was my honeymoon with Sara in June. We had five days at the Hotel Caruso in Ravello, Italy, and we made a pact that we would eat pizza and drink red wine all the time
[pizza & wine? pizza goes with beer...].

MONZA - Good race for Jenson Button: he was 7th and I was thinking omg that's rubbish, but then I knew it seems he always does it on purpose to have fun, losing some positions to overtake, and finished 2nd!
Hamilton, as usual, was rubbish: started 2nd, then he was 5th and stuck behind Schumacher for so many laps. Jenson was behind them and when Lewis made a mistake to overtake Michael, then Jenson "said": that'll do me :). I was sure Button would have overtaken Schumacher immediately, Hamilton isn't able.
Alonso on Ferrari had a great start, from 4th to 1st, an illusion for their fans.
I was laughing when Mark Webber went out of the track and retired, exactly where I was.
He said he didn't realise (for a whole lap) that he lost the front wing against Massa... are you blind or idiot?
I didn't like the crowd (of course Ferrari fans), not very sporting, 'cause under the podium they booed especially Vettel and also Button.
There were some from South Italy who, instead of having fun, decided to have a continuous argument against people with Padania flags (North Italy political party, extremely conservative) because they said they had nothing to do there. They have, in fact it was a political battle to keep the Formula 1 here as always and not in Rome. Besides, Padania is not only politics but it's North Italy. The police had to intervene, on Padania side, mocked those from South so all the people were laughing at them communists, because policemen said people can bring any flag they want.
We are in Italy, People of Freedom, and as the best Beady Eye song says: we do what we want oh yeah!

MONZA - We've arrived in Milan exactly at the same time of McLaren ahaha (some say it’s a good sign), after 2 months of holidays :D
Now the 3rd one starts :D
And in Monza we were the first ones arriving :), other good sign.
Photo: there are also those earplugs we call "suppositories" ahaha that's not a good sign, lol.
It's so hot that we got tanned more in 2 days than in 2 months of holidays. I'm burning.
Here are some videos, not so clear because too sunny (41°C on the track), so on Sunday I must use another camera, and zoom all my photos.
We found the people of last year (then Monza park is not so huge :) as it is) and stayed in the most dangerous places (it's closer than it seems). Now it's time for an exciting race.
I noticed Ferrari fans are sick. They're all Ferrari-dressed, even the shoes.
Again about the noise, it's unbearable. I noticed that if you don't look at the track and think about something else, the noise even hurts you, you get a headache. So it means that when you watch, the brain helps bearing the noise.
There's still the smell of fuel, food and suntan cream: those are the best smells. Many people like the smell of fuel, and of course food and the sun.In the pitlane there was also Beady Eye's crocodile :) of "Different gear still speeding". Because hanged outside Mark Webber’s box there was a sign with a crocodile and written: "danger crocodile", "no swimming / streaming". I'll zoom it.
There were more meetings last year but we were stuck @ McLaren. Besides, the McLaren shop opened in Milan. Met a couple from California and a Russian. Quite far away, aren't they.
More photos in these days, I'll make a video with some proper song ad the best of the weekend.
The President of Italian Republic will be @ race (2011 is a sort of special edition) because it's Italy 150th anniversary and on Sunday he's giving the cup to the winner on the podium...
You're still in time to join.

A warm and sunny weekend is forecast for the Santander Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
Unlike Spa-Francorchamps two weeks ago, the weather in Italy should mean teams and drivers have better conditions to avoid a repeat of the blistering seen on Pirelli’s tyres.
"At the very least, going to Monza is always a very evocative and historic occasion – perhaps more than any other circuit, you can really feel the sport’s past here, and it’s become the perfect venue to bid farewell to the European season before we head to the final flyaways. I think it’s very important that Formula 1 keeps hold of these classics" (Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren).
“Last year, I won at Spa and failed to finish at Monza. For this year, I guess I’m looking to reverse that sequence! I’ve already moved on from my non-finish in Belgium and I’m really looking forward to returning to Italy, a place where I spent a lot of time racing karts: it’s a country I really love." Monza preview

free practice on Friday, @ legendary Ascari. If it's the first time for you there, you'll be impressed by the noise and smell of fuel, food and suntan cream in the air.
Above is the usual party @ Hollywood Milano. There'll be also the usual "Formula One rocks Milan" (with Jamiroquai from Manchester playing at the stadium in Monza) and the afterparty @ Just Cavalli

Champions League draw: AC Milan vs Barcelona, in Spain on September 13, then in Milan 23 November. Quite impossible the first match... (but then Milan, with many injured players, got a great 2-2 there), it's the 18 international trophies team vs 13, Barça dream on...
Rumours say Kakà is coming back from Spain to Milan (but then he didn't... good). As always with footballers, it was the wife insisting to live in Milan. And 'cause he can't stand Mourinho anymore (how rare lol)

I remember their coach Cruyff was very arrogant and the day before the game he photographed himself with the Cup...yes yes...
We were without defence (no Baresi&Costacurta) and they were the "Dream Team". But we had Capello, now England manager, of course 0-4... incredible 3rd goal...

MONZA – Beady Eye: three ring F1 circus, different gear still speeding, saying to the driver: just drive, a few days to the deep blue sky :)

On the Vodafone Vip website there are some competitions to win Monza and Manchester (because the great Jenson Button will drive a McLaren through the streets of Manchester on August 29 as part of a three-day festival in the British city), but you can't participate to the competitions if you're not a Vodafone user.

So here's a competition as last year "up for grabs" :) for everybody, to win Monza from Thursday 8 September: meeting all the Formula 1 drivers, taking photos, going around the big park of the circuit, sunbathing :), etc. oh and watching the cars too, lol.
You can download the full programme here.
During that F1 weekend there's also "cosmic girl" Jamiroquai from Manchester (big fan of cars) for the "Formula 1 rocks Milan" (Jamiroquai rocks?), and the first McLaren shop will open soon.
Last year we asked which Oasis song was covered by the McLaren drivers (Wonderwall).

This time: near which famous "Oasis place" Lewis Hamilton (Oasis fan and Pretty Green fan) was born:

a) Earls Court
b) Knebworth
c) Maine Road

And here's the usual Guido-guide :) to the circuit.
Another English car, Wil-LIAMs :), now Nico Rosberg drives a Mercedes, ex (Manchester) Brawn

love is blind :)
They say he’s sweet. Yes, because he speaks English with Italian accent :)
his girlfriend studied in Milan and he's got friends from here.
My sister worked as "umbrella girl" on the grid, not me lol (or maybe not yet ahaha) so I drove some cars on this circuit, I know every corner as my pockets since I was a child.

"We declare that the splendor of the world has been enriched by a new beauty: the beauty of speed. A racing automobile with its bonnet adorned with great tubes like serpents with explosive breath ... a roaring motor car which seems to run on machine-gun fire, is more beautiful than the Victory of Samothrace.
We want to sing the man at the wheel, the ideal axis of which crosses the earth, itself hurled along its orbit."

Last year our "old fashioned" song for Monza was Another day in paradise, this time it's this one :)

If you want to ask something to Kate Holmes, about fashion, Oasis, etc., let me know 'cause soon we'll do another interview (with an English girl from the mods Quadrophenia Brighton :) and publish it on Oasisblues.
Here’s an introduction, also naming Milano Dolce & Gabbana.

Kate Holmes, the wife of legendary Scots music guru Alan McGee, famously launching the career of Oasis, has swapped record labels for fashion labels by launching a clothing line with a kinky twist.
Former indie star Kate has created Client - named after her band of the same name - and runs the brand from the secluded mansion she shares with the former Creation records boss, in Hay-on-Wye, Wales.
The 40-year-old hopes women and men will get a kick out of the outfits - inspired by 1940s workwear - that have already won over the likes of underwear model Pixie Geldof and movie star Rhys Ifans (“Spike” in Notting Hill and also in an Oasis video).
Kate and McGee fell in love in 1994, after he saw her band Frazier Chorus on TV and asked his label publicist to set up a blind date.
"When he came out of his rehab, he saw me on telly and asked if the press officer would sort out a blind date," Kate recalled."He took me to an art gallery, chatted about paintings and I thought, 'Oh my God. He's really interesting'. It was just after the first Oasis album, before they got big, and I thought Alan was really gentle and generous and fascinating."
Aware that she is following in the footsteps of Liam Gallagher, who has established his Pretty Green line of fashion (starting in Milan in 2009), Kate said: "I can't compete with Liam. I am just a baby compared to him because he has his shops and everything.
"It is interesting that so many rock people are getting into clothes. Liam has done really well.
"For Oasis fans who like that look, the clothes are well made and Pretty Green is well marketed. I say to him, congratulations. But I don't move in the same circles as the Gallaghers.”
Kate is determined to make sure all her clothes are of the highest quality. She has refused to have the outfits made in Chinese or East European sweat shops, opting instead for British manufacturers.
"I am just now launching properly after working on the Client fashion line for three years," she explained.
"The production has been a nightmare and I want to keep everything in Britain from now on. I have seen the factories in Shanghai with my own eyes, but I think we should make the clothes here where factories are competing hard with these places where a dress costs £2 and people are not being paid a decent wage. At least in Britain, it is not being made in a sweat shop."
She added: "People look at me and say I am bonkers to think about starting this during a recession but Alan started Creation during a recession. Alan was king of Britpop.
"He is retired and does what he wants. I admire him for that. He has an amazing legacy. But I have something to prove for myself. If I could sell them online and break even I'd be really happy because money from the band Client has gone straight back into it.
"Pixie Geldof likes the jackets and has the T-shirts. Rhys Ifans wore my jacket in Hollywood every day. I ask friends to wear it but it's hard as people like Pixie get given Dolce & Gabbana every day.
"But Alan has one style. He loves his Paul Smith coats and hats he gets from Piccadilly and his Gucci shoes. He buys shoes every three years. He is frugal with his clothes. He buys good quality and it lasts for ages."
The band – Kate and former Dubstar lead singer Sarah Blackwood – were originally known only as Client A and Client B with their faces hidden on any publicity photos.
“I wrote to Martin Gore of Depeche Mode back in 2003 asking if we could be their support act on a couple of dates on their tour and he said ‘Yes’,” says Kate, who played keyboards.
“And we ended up being invited to travel on their private jet and play 15 dates.
“We toured Russia and went on to make four albums and tour the world, from Mexico to China.
“We were affectionately known as the ‘Pet Shop Girls’ although our material was quite dark.”
The band released a single, Pornography, with former Libertines co-frontman and Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat, and it reached number 22 in the UK charts.
But while they were big in Germany, they never reached “beyond Barfly-level” over here thanks, Kate believes, to the music press not taking to what she describes as an underground cult band and she finally became jaded with her rock lifestyle.
“I’d had enough of not getting enough sleep and of life backstage,” she says.
“It was at that point that I decided to turn our band into a brand.”
She put all the money she made from the band into turning Client into the fashion, film and music business that it is today – but is at pains to make it clear that she has always been “totally self-funded”.
“I didn’t want people to know I was married to Alan otherwise we would have become ‘McGee’s Mrs and that bird from Dubstar’,” she reveals.
“The only help we had from Alan was that he gave us confidence – we were signed to Mute Records.”
She created her unisex lifestyle brand to target the Eastern European market – all firmly based in Wales and the UK.
“Manufacturing at a factory in London is more expensive but it is really important for me to keep the brand British and sustainable.”
